We think you'll "love" 😃 this one. We're excited to announce a new way to gather feedback from your attendees - Attendee Insights! With this release, your Web App attendees will see a pop-up that asks them for feedback on the event, after they've completed certain actions in the event.

Animated GIF showing a user being shown the Insights pop-up.

After people leave feedback, you can see who and what they said on the Metrics tab.

Don't want to use Attendee Insights? No problem! You can turn it off in your event Settings.

For a complete look at Attendee Insights, including what attendee actions trigger it and what is included in the metrics export, check this out!

New Product: Socio Streaming by Restream

'Sup streamers? Ever since Socio launched Socio Streaming, we've been working exclusively with StreamYard as our preferred streaming provider. Now, we're bringing on an additional streaming partner - Restream.

Screenshot of the Restream studio.

When you select a live streaming provider for an Agenda session or Live Stream, you'll now see two options for Socio Streaming: Socio Streaming by Restream and Socio Streaming by StreamYard.

Screenshot of a Session's Live Stream settings panel. Live Stream is enabled.

When you select Restream, you'll still see the Launch Studio button and the Speaker instructions. When you enter the Restream studio, you'll quickly realize it's a lot like StreamYard in many ways. You've got access to Chat messages from attendees, custom branding, overlays, captions (banners), video clips, and more! For a full feature comparison, check this out.

Screenshot of the Grahics tab in the Restream studio.

Got a speaker that's much more comfortable with StreamYard, but others are excited to try Restream? No problem! No matter which Socio Streaming provider you select, your streaming credits can be used for either of them, so you can mix and match.

We're thrilled to be providing you this additional option for producing amazing live streams, and, as always, we're excited to always keep improving Socio for YOU!

For a complete look at using Restream in your event, check this out.

Product Update: Mobile App Video Rooms and Video Participant Limit Increase

We're pleased to announce that the amazing new Video Rooms feature is available in the Mobile App! Now, attendees using the Socio App or your very own Branded App can join in the fun from any device!

Two screenshots showing a list of Video Rooms a user can join, and a video room with several attendees in it.

Mobile attendees can engage in chat, send Connection requests, and view Web App users' shared screens, just like Web App users can.

⭐️ Keep in mind, Mobile App attendees can't share their screens, and Video Room moderation is still only available on the Web App.

Along with this change, we've increased the limit on the number of people that can be in a Video Room and private video chat. Video Rooms can now have 13 attendees and 3 moderators for a maximum total of 16 people in a Video Room. Private video chat now lets up to 13 people talk to one another, provided they've connected first.

Two screenshots showing the Join Video Chat button in a private chat and four people in a private video session.

More people means more reach for speakers and sponsors, more capacity for event support reps to field questions, more people in panel chats, and more possibilities for what you can dream up to use Video Rooms and video chat for.

The more, the merrier!

Product Update: Clone Tickets & Forms, Single Checkboxes, PDF Ticket Toggle, and Hidden Groups

We don't blame you if you zoned out a bit reading that massive title. The point is, Registration just got better with several small but mighty enhancements! 💪

  • You can now clone Tickets and Checkout Forms!
  • We've removed the 2-answer minimum for the Checkbox Select (formerly Multi-select) and Single Select Checkout Form question types
  • We let you disable the Download Ticket button included in every confirmation email on a per-ticket basis.
  • You can now see hidden Groups in the Integrations to Event App section when creating a new Ticket, provided your Registration is linked to your event.

Clone Tickets and Checkout Forms

Save yourself a little work - or a lot! When you click the Settings (⚙️) icon next to an existing Ticket or Checkout Form, you'll now see the Clone option.

Screenshot of a ticket's Settings icon clicked and expanded.

Click Clone, and a modal will open where all of the settings are exactly the same as the Ticket or Checkout Form you're cloning from, with a couple of exceptions.

Two screenshots. One shows the Clone Ticket modal. The other shows the Clone Checkout Form modal.

When cloning a Ticket, any Discount or Promo applied to the existing Ticket you're cloning won't be associated with the new cloned ticket.

When cloning a Checkout Form, everything will copy over exactly except for the Tickets assigned to the existing Form you're cloning from. Tickets already assigned to a Form can't be assigned to a different one without removing them from that Form.

Single Checkboxes

☑ Check this box if you agree Socio is cool.

The Checkbox Select and Single Select question types in Checkout Forms now allow for only one option instead of a minimum of two. This is great for opt-in type questions where attendees have the option to agree to something or opt for additional access.

PDF Ticket toggle

By default, we include a Download Ticket button with every confirmation email. If it's a paid ticket, attendees will also see the Download Receipt button. What if your event is virtual and the Ticket is free? There's no need to wave an official piece of paper around to get in, so we've added a way to remove the Download Ticket button.

When you make a new Ticket or edit an existing one, you'll notice the new Include in confirmation email toggle under Advanced Settings. If you're making a free Ticket for a virtual event, you can toggle this to NO to keep your emails neat and lean.

Screenshot of the Edit modal for a Ticket. The PDF Ticket section is highlighted.

⭐️ Keep in mind, if multiple people registered at the same time, and one of the Tickets had the toggle switched to YES, the confirmation email will still include the Download Ticket button. PDFs will only be included for the Ticket with the toggle turned on, however.

Select hidden Groups

When you make a new Ticket, the last section in the modal is Integrations to Event App. This area lets you select a Group from your Event to automatically assign attendees to when they complete registration using that Ticket.

Previously, if This Group should not be visible... was selected in the Group's settings in the Event, you wouldn't be able to see or select that Group when making a new Ticket. Well, now you can. 😄

⭐️ Keep in mind, your Event has to be linked to your Registration to select Groups.

We're excited to keep implementing your feedback and leveling up Socio Registration more and more! ⏫

Product Update: Registration Emails & Video Analytics Export

It may be April 1st, but we ain't foolin' around. In addition to the brand new Video Rooms feature and 1:1 video chat, we're thrilled to pieces to announce the arrival of Emails and the Video Analytics export!

Registration Emails enable you to keep people engaged both leading up to and after your event. They can be scheduled, too, so you can set and forget!

The Video Analytics export gives you all the juicy details on who, when, and how long for all your Socio Streaming viewers. Ah, sweet, sweet data.

Emails

When you visit the Registration page for your event and hover over the Promote tab, you'll see the new Email option.

Screenshot of the Promote menu expanded with the Emails option highlighted.

From the Emails page, you can create as many emails as you want and schedule them to be sent any time before or after your event. Or, you can simply send them right away!

Screenshot of the Emails page with two emails' statuses showing as Sent, one as Scheduled, and a fourth as In Progress.

As you create your email, the Live View shows exactly what your email will look like to recipients so you can make decisions about the content without repetitive testing. We do offer a Send Test Email button, too!

Animated GIF showing a user entering information in the email fields. We see that the Live View updates in real-time.

We've put in several great customization features that allow you to tailor each email to your event and attendees!

  • To - You can choose individual recipients by name or email, or choose from Ticket types, event Groups, or All Recipients.
  • Variables - Simply click a Variable to add a placeholder to your email. For example, if you type "Hi" and then click the Attendee First Name variable, each recipient's first name will be displayed when the email arrives in their inbox.
  • Show add to calendar buttons - This toggle adds Google, Outlook, Apple, and Yahoo buttons that launch the relevant calendar app on the recipient's device.
  • Call to Action - This lets you add buttons for the Apple App Store and Google Play Store to your email as well as a custom button that opens any link you choose!

Once you've created some emails, you can see Delivered, Opened, and Link Click metrics for each. You can edit emails at any time before they are sent. You can also clone an email at any time!

For a full walkthrough of creating an email, check this out!

Video Analytics Export

Have you ever wondered how long people watched your live stream? Wonder no more! The new Video Analytics export has the dirt on who dipped out early and who stayed glued to your Socio RTMP or Socio Streaming session.

Screenshot of an event's Metrics page with an arrow pointing from the Metrics tab to the Video Analytics option of the Export Report dropdown.

This new Metrics export has two sheets: Video Analytics and Intervals. The Video Analytics sheet shows:

  • Live Stream or Session ID
  • Name
  • Attendee ID
  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Email
  • Title
  • Company
  • Total Duration (minutes)

The Intervals Sheet shows:

  • Live Stream or Session ID
  • Name
  • Attendee ID
  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Email
  • Title
  • Company
  • Clicked From
  • Interval Start
  • Interval End
  • Interval Duration (Minutes)

It's that simple! Now, what you do with the data is your business. 🙈 🙉 🙊

New Feature: Video Rooms & Private Video Chat

UPDATE! We've upgraded Video Rooms and Video Chat to allow 13 attendees and 3 moderators in a Video Room and 13 private video chat participants. Video Rooms also now work on Mobile! 🙌

Listen up, folks! We just opened up a whole new world of networking and attendee interaction in Socio. Half the magic of attending an event in-person is being able to talk to people face to face. Anything that brings virtual attendees closer to that experience is a huge win for your events. That's why we're thrilled to announce the release of the Video Rooms feature and private video messaging.

Video Rooms

With Video Rooms, you can set up spaces where up to 10 attendees and 3 moderators can talk with one another via live video, audio, and typed messages and send Connection requests. Attendees can also share their screen.

You can use Video Rooms for breakout discussions, live Q&A, staff meetups, icebreaker rooms, Sponsor demo rooms, or whatever else you can dream up. For now, this feature is only available on the Web App, but mobile support is coming soon!

Video Room moderators don't count against the 13-person limit, and they can remove people from the room and delete their chats at the same time.

To get started, check this out.

Private Video Chat

Along with Video Rooms, we've added video messaging to the current attendee to attendee text chat on both the Web and Mobile apps! Currently, you can have up to 10 people in your private video chat. 😄

An animated GIF of someone joining a video chat.

Web App Attendees can click the Video button at the bottom of a chat conversation.

Mobile App users can tap the + icon at the bottom of a chat conversation and then tap Video. When they're ready, people can click or tap Join Video Chat.

Screenshot of a chat message between two people. The Video button is indicated with an arrow.

Inside a Video session, users can mute their voice or video feed and send each other typed messages. Web App users can also share their screen.

We're super happy to bring these awesome features to you. Here's to many more in the future! 🙌

Product Update: Add to Calendar in Web App

Attendee no-shows in virtual events are a hot topic right now. With so many virtual events out there and a low barrier to registering, encouraging attendance is more important than ever. With this in mind, we've added an Add to Calendar button to the Agenda in the Web App!

When a user clicks into a session, they'll see the Add to Calendar button next to the session date. This button opens a pop-up where they can select which calendar they want to add the session to.

⭐️ Keep in mind, if you update the date or time of an Agenda session after attendees have added it to their calendar apps, their calendars won't be automatically adjusted. Attendees will have to either re-add the session to their calendar, or manually update their calendar app.

Along with this release, we've added additional options for Socio Live Streaming and Socio RTMP Player — Closed Captions & Hide Viewer Count! Check those out for even more ideas to customize your virtual events. 🙌

Product Update: Closed Captions & Hide Viewer Count

We're pleased to announce the release of two highly requested features for Socio Streaming and the Socio RTMP Player — Closed Captions and Hide Viewer Count!

Closed Captions

Virtual events are taking off, and we don't want anyone left behind. That's why we've rolled out support for Closed Captioning service in Socio Streaming and the Socio RTMP Player. This service works well with SyncWords, a service that provides actual people who listen to your stream and provide captioning in real time.

When Closed Captions are active, attendees see a "Show Captions" button beneath the Live Stream. Once revealed, the Captions can be hidden again, or you can select a language if multiple languages have been configured for your event.

⭐️ Keep in mind, Closed Captions are currently only supported in the Web App, and aren't supported in the Mobile App.

Ready to learn more? Check this out.

Hide Viewer Count

At Socio, we want you to be in complete control of how your attendees experience your events, right down to the little details. We've gotten lots of feedback about hiding viewer counts from Live Streaming, and we're happy to report we've added a way to do just that!

Inside a session or Live Stream feature, you'll see the new Show viewer count checkbox. Un-checking the box removes the counter shown next to the "Live" label in the top left corner of your Live Stream.

Here's how you would access the checkbox for the Agenda:

Animated GIF showing a user clicking the settings cog for the Agenda feature and un-checking the Show viewer count box.

Take a look at the Live Stream feature guide to see where to find the check box there.

As always, we're pleased as punch to keep rolling out new features, so keep the suggestions coming!

Product Update: Export the Data Dashboard

You asked, and we answered! The new Data Dashboard now has the ability to export. 🚀 We've made it a breeze to manipulate and separate data, and dive deeper into what matters to you.

When you visit a Dashboard, you’ll see a brand new Export Report button, as shown below. Click that shiny new button to export Metrics, Chats, Calls to Action, or Event Game analytics.

⭐️ Keep in mind, the export may take a few minutes to process and reach your inbox. We appreciate your patience. 🙏

The spreadsheet data is separated into sheets (i.e. tabs), making it easy to find specific features and drill down. You can also quickly attach it to an email and share it with your stakeholders. For example, you could filter on a Platinum sponsor to see their specific data, delete the other sponsors, and send the Platinum sponsor the data you want them to see.

Once you’ve downloaded the file, you can open it in Excel and start gettin’ down and nerdy with all that data goodness! For more information on the Data Dashboard, check this out.
