This is a small but powerful update! We've had several customers ask us about hiding the game feature's leaderboard from the app users. Most customers want to keep it, but for the customers that don't want it visible, they really don't want it visible. Now, that's no problem. 

To hide the leaderboard, edit the settings of your game and uncheck the Show Leaderboard option. It's that simple.

With this update, all of our web-based product have accessibility tools. This includes the Web App, Registration pages, Platform, and Socio website.

To fulfill this, we aim to adhere as strictly as possible to the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1) at the AA level. These guidelines explain how to make web content accessible to people with a wide array of disabilities. Complying with those guidelines helps us ensure that the website is accessible to all people: blind people, people with motor impairments, visual impairment, cognitive disabilities, and more. The Web App just got even better! Prior to this release, the major difference between our Web App and our mobile apps was that users were unable to connect with other users and send messages. Now, users can add connections and message each other in the Web App without having to pick up their phones! 

Adding a person as a connection allows you to message with them, send them meeting requests, see their contact information, and more. This is perfect for users who want to use a laptop or tablet, or who simply don't have an Android or iPhone device. We've also improved the navigation on our Web App with the addition of a left navigation bar, making it even easier to view your connections and start a conversation.

The moment you've been waiting for ever since we announced Socio's RTMP Player is here. Socio's Q&A and Polling make it easier than ever to host your live stream in the Socio Platform. There's no need to pay for an outside tool, and everything you need to keep your attendees engaged with your sessions is manageable from one central place.

Socio's Q&A and Polling functionality become available after you publish your event, once you have access to the Manage tools. You can enable Q&A and Polling individually for certain sessions or live streams, have a dedicated feature for each, or even import several at a time. 

The flexibility is in your hands. For Q&A, you can require that questions be moderated before going live (or not), and even allow anonymous questions. For polling, you can schedule polls in advance or make them active whenever you want, and allow users to view polling results (or not) as desired. 🙌

Best of all, question moderation and Q&A/Polling settings are all manageable from the Socio Platform.

RTMP Player

Our end-to-end event management platform now supports Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP), allowing you to host virtually any streaming option within the Socio event management platform.

1. You can ditch the meeting software altogether. With Socio’s RTMP player, you can utilize an agency or audio-visual company for higher-quality, professionally produced video. 
2. RTMP opens the door for additional sponsorship opportunities, since you can weave in sponsor commercials, branded banners, and other promotional materials.
3. RTMP is also more stable than many streaming options. That means you can stream confidently — in HD — to a small group, or tens of thousands of attendees.

Session Chat

With the new Socio chat, each session has a dedicated chat feed. If your event has 15 sessions, you can have 15 unique chat streams. The chat feature lives in the same screen as each live stream, so attendees can participate in the chat without navigating to another window. 

Event organizers can use RTMP to broadcast their preferred streaming option, yet still pair it with Socio Chat for a streamlined attendee experience. Post-event, organizers can download the chat logs to follow up with attendees, or for lead generation. Attendees who watch the event on-demand will be able to see the original chat logs for a more engaging experience.

⭐️ Keep in mind, you must update your app to the latest version in order to use the new session chat.

We've released what may be our most-requested feature yet. You can now require users to log in to your Web App in order to view your events and communities, creating a unified experience across the Web App and mobile app. This is perfect for organizers that want their Web App to have more security for their events and communities, to target the content to certain groups of users, and to allow users to interact with features that require a user profile!

Previously, the Web App was a read-only version of your event or community content, and didn't allow users to post on the Wall, play the Game, and rate and review items. Now, all of this is possible!

You can even add a link to your Web App on your promo page, making it even easier for attendees to use the device that they choose. 👇

Update Your App

Previously, when you wanted to update your app details (such as the app images, title, splash screens, etc.), you could message our support team and provide them the details to get it submitted to the Apple and Google Play stores. Now, you can review your app details and update it yourself! For more info, check this out.

⭐️ Keep in mind, it's a good idea to check your Apple Developer account for agreement updates. If your app is no longer showing as "Connected", this may be the cause.

Splash Screen Changes

Our Splash Screen requirements have changed to align with recent updates to app store requirements. Now, we require the following Splash Screens:

• iPhone X Splash Screen: 1125px wide by 2436px tall
• Android Splash Screen: 1080px wide by 1920px tall
